SALUTE TO DMO STAFF

When in November, 2012: members of staff of a certain Debt Management Agency in Nigeria decided to forfeit 5 percent of their salaries to some victims of a peculiar natural disaster, the wind whispered a melody, and expectedly, our Sky here in this House of Love hummed along .... We ourselves...sang a song of 'gracias' like that of the proverbial "Paul and Silas"....What a sacrifice!

The above might appear 'unclear' If one do not understand what transpired initially. Let us jointly x-ray through the below facts as reported by one of Nigeria's most reliable newspaper:
 .............
Staff of the Debt Management Office have offered to contribute at least five per cent of their November salaries to flood victims in the country.

A statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Monday said the staff members agreed to pay the contribution into the Flood Relief Fund.

“We have a message of hope for all our people devastated by the flood, your fellow citizens are standing by you and we all share in your tribulations.
“We pray for you and trust that by God’s grace, you will overcome,” it stated.
The statement said the flood provided an opportunity for Nigerians to demonstrate their care for one another.

According to the statement, it is also an opportunity for Nigerians to show their oneness and their appreciation of the reality of a common destiny.

............................

The flood has not only rendered tens of thousands of Nigerians homeless but has also caused massive destruction of property, farmlands, and infrastructure across the country.

The humanitarian and compassionate spirit of these momentary heroes is indeed commendable. They display great empathy.

What can you do to help the victims?
"You can still do your own little bit and add value to someone else’s life even if you have little or no cash to spare. Giving does not mean that you must give only financially; there are several other ways to give in a meaningful way. The possibilities of giving of your time, experience, talent and intellect are vast and by sharing your knowledge with others, you can add value to your community in this way. You can give of your time to volunteer, visit the elderly, support a foundation, participate in charity walks or runs to raise money for a particular initiative. Are you a resource person in a particular field? There will be something, some talent that you can share with others that will impact positively on their lives..

By deciding to make a difference in someone else’s life, you can bring so much more meaning, value, and a lasting form of happiness to your own"
